The book presents two series of drawings. The first one is made by Russian artists (both real and fictitious) and begins with the legendary Byzantine artist, Hypatia of Alexandria. The second series is made by amateur painters and includes artists from different parts of Europe and America: the drawings of this series are quite impressive and show a variety of approaches ranging from the realistic to the abstract. Also, the book contains a comprehensive description of drawing the title The Nation of Artists, which is not only a good source on correct use of tools – such as brushes, pencils, and hard pastels – but can be used as a study book for drawing from life. Finally, there are copies of the paintings of icon and folk artist Algim Babaev, researcher of the Russian muiscopoemen J. B. Schettini, and the artist himself.
The book was created by some of the best students of Prof. V. A. Mogilevtsev at the Russian Academy of Arts. The subject of drawing has been taken very seriously during this two-year project. The book has just been printed and looks great! Even if you've never tried drawing, it's a good starting point. The average word count is 22 pages (the pdfs are created very compact).
Painting by Roman Radke Roman Radke from Germany is a good example of his art, only in the (Russian) original title he/she is Johannes Baptistus Schettina from southern Germany. We took about 50 pages for selecting the artists of the first section of the book as well as the short description of each painter's technique. It is a pleasure to work with these kind and modest artists. This book will bring some diversity of styles to your workspace. Besides, we had a lot of fun at the same time.
