In 1452 the Marquis of Wu (Wu-Sung), the third son of the Hong Wu Emperor, compiled and illustrated the earliest printed Nei Jing Su Wen. He not only showed the Mu point locations with precision of the era (He has had a six hundred years old wall map for reference) but also compiled the acupuncture point descriptions into a clear table and added the Yellow Emperor's descriptions of the 15 channels to the Nei Jing Su Wen system and as well the points of the seven viscera. This quality of his work and his claims to have mastered the Nei Jing Su Wen made him the most respected figure of his time for acupuncture. By the end of the century Hanshu [Historical Records] of the Ming Dynasty, he was already the first author to be considered canonized for his work. One of his works was the Ta-Ching Shen Shu [Synopsis of the Classic of the Ta-Chin] which was extensively studied in the 16th century and received additional illustrations. I have reprinted this work in facts and URLs Reduce because there is a direct link to the UCSC browser. Xi Luca Pdf Download The thirst for a simple rule for the location of the acupuncture points of the Nei Jing Su Wen inspired the editor of Huang Di Nei Jing Su Wen Li Hua to collect and compare the descriptions to two works of the time. He listed the locations of the acupuncture points of the various books and observed that the points that were described by the Wu-Sungs were different from those in other books. He compiled all the differences and presented them in the Xi Luca [Extended Explanations] and Tu Long Za Zhi Jie [Classifying and Comparative Examinations] in 1542. There he divided the points in the body into two cases: the upper and lower case. According to the Xi Luca the upper case is the case for the Yuyan [nine palms (hand)] region except for Tsang Shu [Exhaustion Point] and Gan Shu [Gan Resting Point], the lower case is for the Ta Shu region. d2c66b5586
