Red Giant is a leader in plugins and tools for editors, video producers and filmmakers, and the Universe 3.2 update adds to that toolbox. As far as subscriptions go, Universe is priced competitively at $199 a year, if paid upfront. There are plenty of image stylizers, transitions, motion graphics, and more, to help enhance your projects.
Universe is a collection of GPU-accelerated effects and transition plugins for editors and motion graphics artists. Give your footage authentic retro and modern-day looks, create beautiful looping backgrounds and motion graphics elements and more, using the generators, effects, text options, transitions, and utilities.
I tested this fix by renaming a plugin from \"Universe_Blur_Blur_AE_Fx.aex\" to \"Universe_Blur_Blur.aex\" . It properly loaded from the path described above and was able to be applied to a Premiere Pro CC 2015 clip. In other words, the entire naming convention must be changed.
Hi Grey Wolf - I just updated to 2015 -- having an adventure with Sapphire, Film Impact and Universe plugins - Plugin Loading Log: some load and show; some don't load and most load but don't show. I looked in AppData/Roaming and see 6.0, 8.0 and 9.0 folders!!!! I will create a 7.0 and remove the rest to see if that does it. QUESTION: WHAT IS THE CORRECT FOLDER NUMBER - 7.0, 8.0 OR 9.0 2014 appeared to have 8.0, CC 7.0 and CS6 6.0, which leads me to think 2015 should be 9.0.
As of the most current release of both Adobe CC 2015 Premiere Pro AND After Effects as well as Red Giant Universe 1.5.0 (which is what I have) ALL is now OK with the native naming of the Universe plugins. I hope this helps. If not, send me an email at greywolfone@hotmail.com and we will try to sort it out.
Yes GreyWolf - I was only referring to 2015. 2014 was 8.0 and CC 7.0 My point was for those of us updating to 2015, with plugins seemingly loading but not showing up in Premiere. Too bad Adobe doesn't offer more specific advice about where Premiere looks to recognize plugins - like pointing to the Media Core folder within the same number as the release - for example having:
Before I found this thread I created a ticket at red giant (and unfortunately wasted a couple of hours uninstalling red giant and farting around). I'll be interested to see if they know about the fixes here
Red Giant Universe is a collection of GPU-accelerated effects and transitions plugins for editors and motion graphics artists. With Red Giant Universe you can give your footage authentic retro and modern day looks using tools like VHS, Retrograde Carousel, Glitch, Holomatrix II, and more. Create beautiful looping backgrounds and motion graphics elements with tools like HUD components, Line, Knoll Light Factory EZ, Fractal Background, and more. Build fast, unique transitions with little or no work. Add glows and other effects that give you better results and more shortcuts, options and control than anything in your host app.
Red Giant Universe is a new free online community for Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Apple Final Cut Pro X and Apple Motion users. Today it hosts 31 free plugins in categories including Blur, Distort, Glow and Generators.
Final Cut Pro X and Apple Motion users are used to the near real-time rendering speed of GPU-based plugins. Red Giant Universe brings that same power to Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects users on OS X and Windows.
Although Red Giant Supernova would be a powerful tool for third-party plugin development, FxFactory has many more years experience in dealing with promoting, selling and supporting third-party plugins. Although if I did sell plugins I would turn to FxFactory, the potential success of Red Giant Universe is good news for plugin developers.
In the case of Apple, Universe means more plugins for Final Cut Pro X and Motion 5. It might provide a little incentive for Apple concentrate a little more on making post production plugins better on OS X than on Windows. If such a comparison is important to Apple, they could produce a Motion 5-based plugin playback system that they could make available to OS X-based post production applications. Imagine implementing a plugin using Motion that could then be used in any AV Foundation-based application. This would help with transferring projects between QuickTime Player, iMovie, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, Lightworks, Avid, DaVinci Resolve and Autodesk Smoke. Combining this with an Apple Post Production Tools Store would be a powerful proposition.
Universe is now open for free membership, why not sign up and investigate the quality of the plugins First the first 30 days you get free access to the premium plugins. this could be the beginning of something big.

Article TutorialFirst Look: Red Giant Universe in DaVinci Resolve November 25, 2014 ML 0185 Tutorial DescriptionThe Red Giant Universe suite of plug-ins is now available for Davinci Resolve. Here's our first look at this collection of 80+ plugins.
Right but premiere still functions the way it's intended. Universe is a 3rd party application that's supposed to work with the latest release. We need to be complaining to Maxon to fix this more so than Adobe. Holding adobe captive for a 3rd party plugin is a bit insane.
Universe is available as an annual subscription ($99/year) or as a monthly subscription ($20/month). New Red Giant Universe customers can purchase a subscription or download a free trial at www.redgiant.com/universe.
Aside from templates, plugins are one of the things we spend a lot of money, time and effort on in order to speed up our workflow both for us, as well as to be conscientious spenders of our clients hard earned profit-dollars. So, when we recently upgraded from Adobe After Effects CC 2015 to Adobe After Effects CC 2015.1, we were a little miffed when we saw the plugins would not load. As always, our conundrum, is your gain.
Unable to find our solution via Google and Bing, we checked to see that the plugins were in the right location. In this case, the project was leveraging some Universe plugins by Red Giant (Universe is an amazing deal). We work on Windows-based PCs now after switching from OSX several years ago, so our path to verify was:
First, Adobe uses Cache. Not just for Media Encoder, and preview files, apparently. It uses cache for plugin loading too! So, the classic shortcut for clearing cache is to hold down the shift key. Specifically, not just when launching the application, but when loading the project. The simple, two-step process worked for us without re-installation.
