On November 29, 2016 Denuvo Software Solutions publicly announced that publishers have agreed to disable Denuvo in platforms in which piracy had been previously rampant. Media outlets covered the announcement through November 30, 2016, when Microsoft and Nintendo finally announced that they would disable Denuvo on Windows 10, Xbox One, and Wii U for the games released on the upcoming holiday season. In Madden NFL 17, Denuvo was disabled for PS4, Xbox One users. The publishers also removed the anti-tamper tech for physical copies of the game when streamed in the Netflix app on Xbox One, PS4 and PS3, displaying that the game was protected by Denuvo, including the Steam version. The removal of Denuvo also caused the Steam version of Madden NFL 17 to lose cloud support, and the Microsoft Store version of the game to lose online play. Denuvo was previously removed from some keys sold individually.[25] On December 15 Denuvo was finally removed from the Xbox One and PS4 versions of MLB The Show 2018. The PS3 version remained Denuvo-protected on December 16 due to the game not being on the list of DX11 games.[26] The list of Denuvo-protected games was reduced to 11 on December 21.
