The best songs "Get Ready to Rock "n" Roll" and "Lady of the Lake" are quite reminiscent of earlier Rainbow albums, especially "Power to Believe" with its classic Rainbow chorus and riff. An interesting concept album that would make a good for inspiration for those coming into this band, especially in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In contrast, "Long Live Rock-and-Roll" is a more blues-based hard rock album. The album opens with the song "Power Lover", which was actually recorded in the studio that I recorded "The Showdown" and "A Touch of Lava" from. Fast and furious in the style of the early Elvels and Ratt, this song is a showstopper for the heavy metal fan. "Metal Man" and "Crank It Up" are pounding and heavy blues-rock. The album closes with "Music Man", which is a pure classic, although some will argue that it is not as good as the other songs on the record. But this song is a winner on any hard rock fan's list. It is pure rockin' hard rock with a heavy blues feel. "Music Man" was in fact, originally written for the Helloween tour. But Danny Peyronnin liked the song and asked the band to record it. Perhaps this explains why there is a better presentation on the album compared with the original version. There are some strong guest appearances: Blackmore and Duane "Havoc" Jacobs appear on "What It Is" and "Welcome to Goodbye" respectively. These moments are more than welcome.
The song that really made this band take off was "Lady of the Lake". It was a single deafuntingly catchy song thtout it had a great melody and riffs. But what was amazing about this song was the huge vocal presence from the mighty Ronnie James Dio. He can nearly carry this song himself with his vibrant and powerful singing. Blackmore and Chyskowski's amps blew me away. This was the highlight of their entire career. This is a song that brought over 800,000 people to see them play 10 weeks later. The album closes with the song "Rainbow Eyes". This is a Celtic-flavored song that is also very emotional and personal. I think this song is the real icing on the cake of the album. d2c66b5586
